Cuban-American fashion designer, René Ruiz, started his business in Miami in the early 1990s. With a single sewing machine and $250 René embarked on his American Dream.
After opening his first atelier in Coral Gables in the 1990s, René quickly became the go-to designer for celebrities and socialites. His eye for high-quality fabrics and personalized attention to the creation and tailoring of each garment has created an international following.
In 2018, René was awarded an Emmy for his role as a host on MDC-TV's cinematic documentary series Fashion Forward. As the only native Miamian featured at Miami Fashion Week, René embarked on a new journey, launching his first line for René by RR in 2018.
René's designs are the epitome of fashion, exemplifying not only his talent but also the momentum of the world's next international fashion capital. René's appreciation for luxury and beautifully made clothes and accessories are the corner stone of the René by RR philosophy: European craftsmanship forged with the American spirit.
As a Cuban-American immigrant René has always prioritized giving back to his community. René has contributed to charities like Make-A-Wish, the Special Olympics, MS Association of America, Cuban American Bar Association, and the Humane Society of Greater Miami. René also sits on the Advisory Board of the Miami Fashion Institute helping to mentor and inspire a new generation of students.
